The Reward for Removing a Branch from the Road

Narrated by Abu Hurairah RA, he said that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

“A man came across a branch of a tree lying in the middle of the road and said, ‘By Allah, I will remove this from the path of the Muslims so that it does not harm them.’ As a result, he was admitted to Paradise.”

Sahih Muslim (1914)

  • Islam encourages its followers to perform good deeds in all situations and circumstances.
  • One of the signs of a believer is to do good deeds, including removing obstacles like a piece of wood from the road that could endanger others.
  • Some members of the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ have been rewarded with Paradise for performing an act considered small, such as removing a piece of wood that could be hazardous to those using the road.
  • In the effort to do good, never underestimate deeds that may seem small to the naked eye. Indeed, Allah SWT evaluates the deeds performed by His servants with His mercy.
