Narrated Abu Hurairah RA, The Prophet ﷺ said:
تَعِسَ عَبْدُ الدِّينَارِ وَالدِّرْهَمِ وَالْقَطِيفَةِ وَالْخَمِيصَةِ، إِنْ أُعْطِيَ رَضِيَ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يُعْطَ لَمْ يَرْضَ
“Let the slave of Dinar and Dirham of Quantify and Khamisa (i.e. money and luxurious clothes) perish for he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased!”

- Muslims are prohibited from enslaving themselves to worldly possessions because they provide no benefit in the Hereafter.
- Worldly possessions granted by Allah SWT to someone serve as a test to measure their faith in Allah SWT.
- Therefore, they should be used for matters commanded by Allah SWT.
- Muslims are prohibited from being overly joyful when receiving a blessing and from being sorrowful when struck by a calamity.
- The reproachable wealth is that which exceeds one’s needs, distracts from remembering Allah SWT, and is not used in obedience to Allah SWT.
