Allah says in Quran:
وَمَا ٱلْحَيَوٰةُ ٱلدُّنْيَآ إِلَّا لَعِبٌۭ وَلَهْوٌۭ ۖ وَلَلدَّارُ ٱلْـَٔاخِرَةُ خَيْرٌۭ لِّلَّذِينَ يَتَّقُونَ ۗ أَفَلَا تَعْقِلُونَ
Meaning: “And the life of this world is nothing but play and amusement. But surely the home of the Hereafter is better for those who are righteous. Then will you not reason?”
Surah Al-An’am, Ayah: 32
- Signs that we are heedless:
- Less frequent reading of the Quran.
- Lack of remembrance (dhikr) of Allah.
- Negligence in prayers, less mindfulness of Allah.
- Less or lazy in making supplications (du’a).
- Delaying repentance.
- Ways to overcome heedlessness:
- Find good and righteous friends.
- Attend gatherings of knowledge.
- Wake up at night for Tahajjud prayer.
- Increase in remembrance (dhikr) and repentance.
- Be diligent in reading the Quran.
- Remember death.
- Practice the Sunnah of the Prophet SAW.
